The following will list out some guidelines for completing the Pledge of Allegiance video assignment
Sample Pledge Video
Before You Begin (The Dirty Details)
- You video must be thematic in it's pieces. The video above was all about flags. You can choose whatever you want (example: Patriotic kids, fireworks, military, etc.)
- Your pictures/video must be pro-america
- You video must be in High Definition (see setup steps below)
- Your images must be high quality (see tips below)
Tips for Best Results
- Speak loudly and clearly when doing VO
- Better yet record along with a group of people (no more then 3)
- When searching for images be careful to select "View Image" This will make sure you get a full quality sample so it won't be grainy or blurry on your videos.
- Decide on the theme for your video
- find approximately 15 high quality images online to support your theme.
- Start a new Project in Premiere
- Once Open start a "New Sequence" (File-New-Sequence). Use These Settings for your new sequence.
- Create 2 Full screen (non-motion) graphics in Photoshop (1 that says Ready, the other says Begin). NOTE: Use the same template as what we use when making lower thirds and full screens.
- Import those two files into your project and position at the beginning of your video with each one lastly exactly 1 second.
- Record your Voice Over using the Zoom microphones
- Import Voice over, Trim the edges so it starts/ends well, position audio directly after the "begin" slide.
- Using the Razor shortcut (Cmd+K) chop up your audio file so it is split at the various stanzas of the pledge.
- Import photographs (You can resize in photoshop first then import, or you can use the "scale" option in premiere to re-size after, totally up to you.)
- Place clips on timeline and match to the cuts of your voice over.
- You may consider adding "titles" to each slide sort of like Karoke for people. You can use Premieres built in text feature to do this very very easily.
