FOR ALL CLASSES:
HOW LONG DID YOUR RESOLUTION LAST: I will spare you the details, excuses, and defenses and just cut straight to the chase. Both my resolution to do weekly newsletters to parents and to lose 10 pounds by summer met their demise in month of April. But I'm back with a quick recap
EQUIPMENT BERMUDA TRIANGLE: Sadly this has been a poor year for equipment accountability. I have always loved checking out equipment to students and have been blessed that they have been respectful of ensuring I get it all back. So far this year we have misplaced well over $100 worth of memory cards, lost 8 memory card readers, and to date even have three missing very expensive cameras. I hate to think this stuff was "stolen" but I know from seeing some of their cars that our students aren't always the most organized. If you could please encourage your students to clean their rooms and in the process if they see something from our classroom bring it back!
THE END IS NEAR: Over the next 3 weeks we will only be meeting with each class a total of nine times. It is by far crunch time on getting missing work in as the day of the actual final in class is the drop-dead date for any and all assignments. Encourage your students to use their SSP time as well as lunch to square off all their Arts AV needs.

CLASS SPECIFIC FINALS INFORMATION
| VIDEO PRODUCTION: Students have finished their pitches of their final free create video and are well into (or done) with the filming of said project. With only nine days left to edit all students should be done filming by the end of the week giving them a comfortable albeit tight final editing timeline. Ask your student what their final video project is and check in on their filming progress. YEARBOOK: It's that scary time of year again when the realization of the end of the creation time is upon us and the book simply "is what it is". Students have been working well the last few weeks and many have also found time to go back and fix imperfections on past pages. The final days here we have two more spreads to create as well as the final proofing and corrections on all pages. Click on the image to the left and you will see our "ladder" with pages marked blue (done), yellow (some work left), and red (lots of work left). As you can tell we got a lot of work left to do in this nine weeks. GRAPHIC DESIGN: Students have been excitedly designing publication pages for local businesses. We have finished logos and business cards and are wrapping up flyers this week. The final part we will build is a tri-fold brochure for each company. The week of finals students will have two days to clean up the items based on grading feedback and the day of the final we will put everything into a nice little binder and send it off to the company. Your students "Final" is the creation of that binder. You can ask your student how their designs are going so far and can also ask to see some of their work as most of it is on google drive. PHOTOGRAPHY: We will be taking our final field trip this coming Thursday as we spend lunch and the class period at Pioneer Park to practice all our shooting skills. Your students final for this class is the creation of a thematic gallery. They have all chosen their theme and have ideally begun doing some shooting as well. You should check in with them on the status of their theme as well as ask them how many of the required 4 new pictures that they have shot. BROADCAST: We are wrapping up the final group productions of the Hawk H.I.T. News. It has been a strong season with very fun segments and a lot of creative group activities. For their final students will produce a single show all by themselves. They will have two prep days to plan their show and then a 45 minute time-slot to film it. Because of the limited time slots we will start filming these finals next week. You should check in with your student on when their time slot is and on the status of their concepts for thier production. |
