CLASS SPECIFIC INFORMATION:
YEARBOOK: First spreads of the new semester are due at the end of the week. You will see your students get a "Prefinal Draft" grade in the gradebook indicating how they did on the page. As suggested in the name this "Draft" is correctable so any feedback/gaps they have on the page they can still fix and increase their grade. However, caution your student not to let gaps build up on their pages as their is no in-class time built for them to make these corrections they simply have to do it while they continue working on their next page. |
VIDEO PRODUCTION: This is the final week for students to finish producing their videos. They should be editing like crazy in order to meet the looming Thursday deadline to submit to the iDIDA contest. With it being a short week we are going to push them to edit one version this week to submit to the contest but also allow them a little time next week to do a perfect version that they will turn in for their grade in class. . |
GRAPHIC DESIGN: Students are wrapping up their personal collages this week. The activity, though kind of silly (see image at right), teaches them how to use the selection tools in Photoshop which will be invaluable for upcoming assignments. We will begin working in the coming weeks on our C.A.R.P. lecture series which is the backbone of our design criteria. Encourage your students to continue thinking about what company/organization they would like to use for the final for this course which is the production of a graphics package for a company. |
PHOTOGRAPHY Students finished taking the "Day In The Life" picture assignment this week. This visual exercise should pay huge dividends in future assignments as they continue to craft their creative vision. We will spend the next few days formalizing that assignment by turning it in a slideshow with some writing about what/how each photograph was taken. Students also will be turning in their first yearbook photos on the 31st. Keep your eyes out in the coming weeks for permission slips to the trampoline park as we begin a module on Action/Sports Photography. |
BROADCAST JOURNALISM The next few weeks will be business as usual with the production of the news. In early February we will take a break and work on "Package Production". Check in with your student on which packages/stories they are interested in and brainstorm with them some ideas for how to best tell the story. |
